Modular Kitchen Cost in Bengaluru: A Price Breakdown

Modular kitchen quotes are famously hard to compare, because two studios can quote the same kitchen using completely different units of measurement. Understanding how the pricing is actually built is the only way to know whether you are being quoted fairly.

Here is how modular kitchen cost in Bengaluru (Bangalore) breaks down.

The short answer

A modular kitchen in Bengaluru typically costs between ₹1.5 lakh and ₹4 lakh. A compact, well-built laminate kitchen sits near the lower end; a large U-shaped kitchen in acrylic with premium hardware and a quartz counter sits at or beyond the upper end.

How kitchens are actually priced

You will meet two conventions, and you should know which one you are being given:

  • Per running foot — a rate multiplied by the length of the counter. Simple, but it hides how much overhead and tall storage is included.
  • Per square foot of shutter area — base and wall units priced separately by area. More granular and harder to fudge.

Ask which convention a quote uses, and what it assumes about wall units. A cheap-looking running-foot rate that excludes overhead cabinets is not cheap.

Core material — the decision that sets the floor

The carcass is what holds your kitchen up for the next decade, and it is invisible once installed, which is exactly why it gets downgraded quietly. In a kitchen, where water is a daily fact, BWP or BWR plywood is the sensible choice. HDHMR is a reasonable middle option. Particle board does not belong under a sink. We cover this properly in plywood vs MDF vs particle board.

Shutter finishes and what they add

  • Laminate — the value option, huge range, repairable, slightly visible edges.
  • Membrane / PVC — seamless look, good for moulded shutters, mid-range.
  • Acrylic — high gloss, premium look, shows fingerprints, adds meaningfully to cost.
  • PU paint — fully bespoke colour, premium, needs skilled application.
  • Glass / fluted glass — usually for wall units and display, priced per piece.

Hardware: the invisible cost that decides lifespan

Hinges, channels and lift-ups are where a suspiciously low quote usually hides. Soft-close hardware from an established brand costs more per unit and is the single biggest factor in whether a kitchen still feels solid in year five. Ask for the brand and model in writing, not just the word "soft-close".

Accessories and counters

Pull-out baskets, tandem units, corner carousels and tall pantry units are each priced individually — a full accessory package can add ₹40,000–1.2 lakh on its own. On counters, granite remains the practical Bengaluru default; quartz costs more and resists staining better; tiled counters are cheapest and hardest to keep looking good.

What quotes usually exclude

  • Chimney, hob, oven, dishwasher and sink — often priced separately.
  • Plumbing and electrical shifting if the existing points are in the wrong place.
  • Loft storage above wall units.
  • Backsplash tiling or the stone cladding behind the hob.
  • Dismantling and disposing of an existing kitchen.

How to compare two quotes fairly

Line them up on five things: core material and grade, shutter finish, hardware brand, what accessories are included, and what is explicitly excluded. If a quote will not state those five, the price is not really a price. Our modular kitchen service quotes all five as standard.

Key takeaways

  • Most Bengaluru modular kitchens cost ₹1.5–4 lakh depending on layout and finish.
  • Check whether a quote is per running foot or per square foot of shutter area.
  • Use BWP/BWR plywood for the carcass — the kitchen is a wet zone.
  • Get the hardware brand in writing; it decides how long the kitchen lasts.
  • Confirm exclusions: appliances, loft, backsplash and point shifting.
